A Good Mugging
Each winter Humpback Whales undergo a 10,000km migration up Australia's eastern coastline. When they turn and start their return journey south many females with tiny calves in tow head to Platypus Bay in the lee of Fraser Island (K'Gari) for a rest and to fatten up their calves before the big swim home. The sub-adults will often become inquisitive and mug the boats - who is watching who?

For the Love of Jake - 2019
Jake was born in 1996 to Eugene and Larry Hinton. They built one of the first Surf Camps on Siargoa Island - "The Green Room - Cloud 9" on Tuason Point in the Philippines.Jake was born in Surigao City - a 4 to 5 hour boat trip from the island. The marriage and Jake's subsequent arrival called for much celebration in both Australia and the Philippines as Larry and Eugene were both very popular and loved by all. Tragically, after a number of severe seizures Jake was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 6 months of age. Due to the remoteness of the island and the increasing medical care Jake required, the family decided to relocate to Australia. In 2017 Jake turned 21 and with many health battles along the way it was a milestone to celebrate. Jake is a special soul sent to two special people in Larry and Eugene who love him with all their hearts. Mia and Taylor could not imagine life without their special big brother! Jake is my nephew and to everyone who knows and cares for Jake - we all love you to the moon and back!

Red Wrens of Caba
Cabarita Headland is listed as an "Endangered Ecological Community" which is classified as a "Themeda Grassland" and is rare and fragile. Poor soil, strong salt laden winds, full exposure and human activity threaten this fragile community. It is home to a tiny bird - the Red-backed Fairy Wren which is the smallest of the Fairy Wrens weighing only 8 grams. These Red Wrens are endemic to Australia and have a fascinating social order with the brightly coloured male in charge supported by numerous little brown females and youngsters!

Colours of Japan
I was very taken with the vibrant colours in Japan - from the vermilion colour of the many shrines and tori gates to the array of bright colours in the beautiful kimono worn by the Geisha, Maiko and young girls and also the stunning bright green of the mosses and new spring foliage of the trees. I tried to capture these colours in my images!
